Motion Calls On Mayor Horwath To Lobby Premier Ford & Prime Minister Trudeau To Fund Gaps In Social Services, Affordable Housing, Transportation, & Other Infrastructure Identified By The City of Hamilton Government & Community Relations Department
Citing a plethora of detailed data and meaningful metrics – including inflation, various taxes and levies from the federal, provincial, and municipal levels of government, food insecurities amid the new Material Deprivation Index, real estate prices, rental rates, housing affordability statistics, mortgage delinquency rates, household incomes, unemployment rates, and poverty rates – Councillor Mike Spadafora’s motion declaring an affordability crisis in Hamilton was ratified today at Council, after being endorsed at Monday’s General Issues Committee (GIC) meeting by an 11-1 vote.
